Konstantin Shamray is a Russian pianist and teacher who first came to Australia in 2008 to take part in the Sydney International Piano Competition.

Throughout the centuries, bells have played a significant role in the lives of those residing among them. In Europe, bells are strongly associated with Christianity and are used as a call to worship, a call to prayer, to drive out evil spirits and as ceremonial rites amongst the different branches of the religion.
This recital explores the traditions of bell ringing and the creation of bell sounds on the modern piano. The ancient sounds of bells are brought to life through music. The program takes you on a fascinating journey across Europe, showcasing repertoire containing the French bell sounds of Debussy, the German/Austro-Hungarian traditions of Liszt and Enescu, and Russian, dark and mysterious sounds created by Borodin and Scriabin.
